Philip was admitted as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England & Wales on 1 December 1985 and began his real estate career at leading law firm, Berwin Leighton, in 1987. Four years later he was appointed as full equity partner.

In August 1999, Philip was headhunted with his team to join leading tech law firm, Olswang, to grow their real estate practice.

During his time at Olswang, Philip led the development and procurement of the firm's 120,000 sq ft new headquarters office building 90 High Holborn.

Key clients included household name UK and European Investment and Pensions Funds, a FTSE 100 UK mixed use commercial urban regeneration developer and numerous overseas institutions.

Key transactions during private practice included a £375million acquisition of a Motorway Service Area Portfolio; the £153mn purchase of a British multinational insurance company’s HQ; the purchase, finance and securitisation of a £1.2bn portfolio and, for a British property developer, the joint venture redevelopment of a riverside site in East London to create over 4,000 homes and 500,000 sq. ft. of commercial space.

After leaving private practice in 2014, and whilst at AEW, Philip was involved in the launch and running of two London Stock Exchange listed Real Estate Investment Trusts, three comingled private funds and three separate account mandates. He was also closely involved in transacting over £1billion of office, retail, logistics and alternative real estate assets across the UK and Europe.

During his time at AEW, Philip led a number of in-house compliance projects to ensure that the firm had implemented policies, procedures, systems and controls for the new EU wide regulations for Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD), Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID II), Anti-Money Laundering, International Sanctions, Senior Managers & Certification Regime and the EU General Data Protection Regulation.

He was also the responsible compliance officer for annual US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and National Futures Association (NFA) filing and compliance with the "Volcker Rule".
